Erasmus+

A step-by-step guide from application to
participation and beyond

What is the Erasmus+ Program?

Erasmus+ is the EU’s program that supports education, training, youth, and sport in Europe.
Its budget is approximately EUR 26.2 billion. Compared with the previous program (2014–2020), this is almost double the funding.
It puts strong emphasis on social inclusion, the green and digital transitions, and supporting young people’s participation in democratic life.

Step 1: Find Your Opportunity

The first step of your journey is finding a project that sparks your interest. We regularly post new opportunities for youth exchanges, training courses, and other mobility programs. Browse our current open calls to see which topics, countries, and dates work for you. Be sure to follow our social media channels to be the first to know when new projects are announced!

Step 2: The Application Process

Once you’ve found a project you love, it’s time to apply. Each project has a simple online application form where you’ll share a bit about yourself and your motivation for joining. We don’t look for special experience; we look for passion and a willingness to learn. Our team carefully reviews every application and will get in touch with you regarding the selection results and next steps.

Step 3: Preparation is Key

Congratulations, you’ve been selected! Now, we’ll make sure you’re fully prepared. You will receive a detailed Info-Pack with everything you need to know about the project schedule, location, and what to pack. Our team will guide you through booking your travel and will host a pre-departure online meeting to answer all your questions and introduce you to the other participants.

Step 4: The Experience

This is what it’s all about. You’ll join participants from across Europe and beyond for an unforgettable experience. Through non-formal learning methods like workshops, team-building activities, and discussions, you’ll gain new skills and perspectives. You’ll also have the chance to explore a new culture, share your own, and build friendships that last a lifetime.

  • Your travel costs (flights, trains, buses) are reimbursed up to a certain limit, which is determined by the distance to the project location. We will guide you through the entire process to ensure you book your travel correctly to receive a full reimbursement. You may have to pay for travel upfront, and you will be reimbursed after the project.

No, you do not need any special experience or qualifications. The most important thing we look for is motivation, an open mind, and a genuine interest in the project’s topic. Our projects are designed to be inclusive learning environments for everyone, regardless of your educational background. Just bring your curiosity and willingness to participate!

Non-formal learning is an interactive and participant-centered educational method. Unlike traditional schooling (formal learning), it focuses on practical skills and personal development. Activities include workshops, group discussions, simulations, team-building exercises, and creative projects. The goal is to learn by doing, sharing experiences, and collaborating with others in a relaxed and supportive environment.

The age limits can vary depending on the specific type of project (Youth Exchange, Training Course, etc.), but generally, our projects are open to individuals aged 18 and above. Most Youth Exchanges are for participants aged 18-30, while Training Courses are often for an adult audience with no upper age limit. Always check the specific requirements listed in the open call for each project.
