EU Project Manager (m/f)

About the Role

IKReON is a Slovak non-governmental organisation working in educational innovation, lifelong learning, and youth and adult empowerment. We deliver a growing portfolio of Erasmus+ and other publicly-funded projects, and we are looking for an EU Project Manager to help us run them.

Your main focus will be the day-to-day implementation of our funded projects — keeping them on time, on budget, and audit-ready. Working closely with the Vice President and President, you will take real ownership from the start, contribute to new proposals, and have a clear path to grow into a senior role. As a small, fast-moving team, we value people who enjoy variety and are ready to step into adjacent tasks as our workload shifts.

At a Glance

Contract

Part-time to start (0.75 FTE / 30h per week), moving to full-time after a successful 3-month probation.

Location

On-site at our office in Ružomberok, Slovakia.

Working Arrangement

Mostly on-site, with one day a week remote by agreement.

Start Date

By agreement — target summer 2026, with some flexibility for relocation.

What You Will Do

Core Focus — Project Implementation

  • Run assigned funded projects end to end: timelines, deliverables, and partner contributions, on time and on budget.
  • Draft interim and final narrative reports; keep documentation organised and audit-ready.
  • Track budgets and validate partner spending with our financial lead, following funders’ rules (unit costs, lump sums, real costs).
  • Act as IKReON’s main point of contact for partners and national agencies; chair project meetings and represent us where needed.
  • Apply our quality standards and guide volunteers or junior staff on project tasks.

Supporting — Proposals and Development (Growing Over Time)

  • Help monitor relevant calls (Erasmus+ KA2, CERV, Creative Europe, Horizon Europe, and national or regional schemes).
  • Contribute to concept notes and proposals — objectives, work packages, impact, dissemination — with the opportunity to take the lead as you grow.
  • Occasionally co-facilitate workshops where your expertise fits.

A Small-Team Reality

IKReON is a small organisation with a high workload. While project implementation is your core focus, you should expect to wear several hats and step into adjacent tasks — proposal support, dissemination, events, external representation — as priorities shift. We are looking for someone who finds this energising rather than frustrating.

What You Bring

Essential

  • At least 3 years’ hands-on experience implementing publicly-funded projects (EU, national, or regional), including reporting and partner coordination.
  • Experience contributing to funded applications, and a working knowledge of EU financial-reporting logic.
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (education, European studies, international relations, public policy, management, or a related social science).
  • Slovak at C1 or native level and English at B2 / C1 — both written and spoken, confident in consortium settings.
  • Strong organisational skills, able to run several projects in parallel; proactive and autonomous in a small, high-trust team.
  • Comfortable with digital and project-management tools (MS Office, Google Workspace, monday.com) and with AI tools.
  • Based in the Liptov region or willing to relocate; remote-only is not available.

Desirable

  • A Master’s degree or above; a project-management certification (PRINCE2, IPMA, PMI, or equivalent).
  • Experience in an NGO or social-impact organisation, or in the education, youth, or adult-learning sectors.
  • Driving licence (B); willingness to travel for project activities; alignment with our mission of inclusion and lifelong learning.

What We Offer

Fair Pay

Gross monthly wage of €1,650–€2,100 (full-time), based on your profile — FTE €19,800–€25,200 per year. Starts at 0.75 (30h/week), paid pro-rata, during probation.

Remote & Workspace

One day a week remote by agreement, plus a workspace in a vibrant coworking environment in central Ružomberok.

Growth & Learning

Professional development, including international training courses and Erasmus+ mobilities, with a clear path to grow.

A Great Team

A warm, mission-driven team that values people who enjoy variety and ownership.

How to Apply

Selection runs in two stages:
(1) an interview with shortlisted candidates;
(2) a short trial day with practical tasks — a brief proposal-writing exercise and a project-management scenario.

Please send your CV and a short motivation to info@ikreon.com.
